How to make a patriotic paper plate dream catcher craft
Step 1
Get a white paper plate. Cut off the circle in the center using a craft knife. (Please note, only grown-ups should do this part.)
Paint the paper plate using blue paint. We used two coats of dark blue acrylic paint. Once the paint dries, punch holes around the inner circle using a hole punch.

Step 2
Get a piece of red yarn, approximately a meter long. Thread it through one of the holes and knot it to secure it in place.
Now comes the fun part for kids!
Kids can weave the yarn through different holes until it has gone through all the holes and a nice web is formed in the middle. When the weaving is finished, knot and secure the other end of the yarn. If you run out of length in the middle, you can knot it and get another piece of yarn and continue the same process.

Step 3
Cut out a few long strips of red and white tissue paper. Stick them on the bottom of the paper plate at the back.

Step 4
Time to stick some stars now. Download the star template from our printable library by signing up for our newsletter below. Print it on white A4 paper.
After you sign up, you will get an email to confirm your subscription and once you confirm, you will get another email with a link and password to access our printable library. Open the printable library and you will be able to find our star printable under the section “4th of July”.
Cut out and stick the stars on the paper plate. You can also use these stars as a template to cut out star shapes from glitter paper.

Our beautiful paper plate dream catcher is ready! Just punch a hole on the top and thread a piece of yarn through it and make a loop to hang it in your room. You can also hang it on your patio as a windchime for a festive touch!
