How to Make a Squirrel Hat Craft for Kids
Making this squirrel headband craft is easy, and kids will love wearing it while watching the squirrel’s head bobble as they move.
Step 1
Download and print the squirrel headband craft template. Print pages 1 to 3 on coloured cardstock and page 4 on thin white cardstock.

Step 2
Color the nose and acorn, then draw a few lines on the acorn for detail. Cut out all the template pieces. Next, trace the two white paper strips onto white construction paper and cut them out. These will be used to make the accordion fold.

Step 3
Glue the white mouth piece onto the squirrel face.

Step 4
Then, glue on the eyes and nose. Next, use a black marker to draw the mouth and teeth.

Step 5
After that, glue the two small inner ear pieces onto the larger ears. Attach the ears behind the squirrel’s head, one on each side.

Step 6
The squirrel face is now ready, so set it aside for later. Next, take the front headband piece and glue the large white belly piece in the center.

Step 7
Now, take the two white paper strips and glue the ends together to form a right angle. Fold one strip over the other, alternating back and forth until you reach the ends. Glue the remaining ends together to secure the accordion fold. Finally, glue one end of the accordion fold near the top of the white belly piece.

Step 8
Next, glue the squirrel head to the top of the accordion fold. Let the glue dry for a few minutes before lifting it up. Since the accordion fold is made from construction paper, the squirrel head may feel a little heavy at first and could come loose if moved too soon.

Step 9
Glue the acorn just below the squirrel’s head. Draw a few lines on the hands to create the paws, then glue them slightly overlapping the acorn. For a more playful look, gently curve the hands before gluing them in place.

Step 10
Next, attach the back headband piece to the front piece using a stapler. Adjust the size to fit the child’s head, then trim off any excess. We have included two back band pieces so you can easily adjust the headband to the right size.

Step 11
Finally, attach the squirrel tail to the back of the headband using a stapler.

Your Bobble Head Squirrel Headband Craft is ready! Put it on, move your head, and watch your little squirrel bobble along with you. Have fun wearing your adorable woodland creation!
