Step 1
First, get the popsicle sticks and paint them in your favorite colors. Kids can also try their own cute designs. For our pink and green caterpillar photo-frame, we used 19 popsicle sticks.
Once the paint is dry, lay two popsicle sticks straight. Place a third and fourth popsicle stick on top of them at a 90-degree angle to form a rectangle as you can see in the below pic. Once you are happy with the rectangle shape, fix the sticks in place using hot glue or wood glue.

Step 2
Let’s make another rectangle.
Lay a popsicle stick parallel to the rectangle we just made. Again, place two other popsicle sticks on top of the two parallel popsicle sticks at a 90-degree angle to form a rectangle. We make this second rectangle such that its top edge is above the top edge and its bottom edge is above the bottom edge of the first rectangle.
Once you decide the position of the sticks, fix them in place using hot glue or wood glue.
Now, make a third rectangle the same way. For the third rectangle, place the top edge just below the top edge of the second rectangle. Also, place the bottom edge just below the bottom edge of the second rectangle.
Continue the above steps and make a fourth and fifth rectangle. It may sound a bit complex. But when you actually do it, you will find it so much fun and easy!

Step 3
Once you have made all the five rectangles, turn it over. Stick a small rectangular piece of white cardstock paper behind the first popsicle stick rectangle. Again, turn it over and draw the caterpillar’s eyes and mouth on the cardstock. Also, stick a small piece of pipe cleaner behind the caterpillar’s face to form the antennae.
Let’s stick cardstocks now behind all the other rectangles.
Turn the picture frame over again. Stick a rectangle piece of cardstock paper behind the second rectangle. Make sure you don’t apply glue on the top edge of the cardstock. Glue should be applied only on the other 3 sides. We need to leave the top part unglued so that we can insert pictures that way.

Step 4
Stick a cardstock paper on each of the other rectangles with the top side unglued. Once that is done, it is time to make a stand for our photo frame. Stick two popsicle sticks behind the left and right corners of the third rectangle at around 45 degree angle using hot glue. Once they are fixed in place, stick the other ends of them to a third popsicle stick which is placed parallel to the picture frame.
Turn it over and insert your kids’ drawings or your favorite pictures through the top unglued edge of the rectangles.

Your super cute DIY popsicle stick picture frame is ready.
