Steps to make a paper plate bumble bee craft for kids
Let’s get started and make this fun paper plate bumble bee craft together. Follow the simple steps below to create your own bright and cheerful bee for spring.
Step 1
Start by taking one small paper plate to make the bee’s body.

Step 2
Let kids paint the inside of the paper plate bright yellow using acrylic paint or watercolor. If you prefer a less messy option, crayons work well too. We used acrylic paint for bold colour.
Then, set it aside and let the paint dry completely before moving to the next step.

Step 3
Now it’s time to draw the black stripes on your paper plate bee’s body. We used acrylic paint to add three large black stripes.
Next, set it aside and let the paint dry completely before moving on.

Step 4
Download the bumble bee craft template and print it on a white A4 cardstock by signing up for our newsletter below. If you’re already a subscriber, simply enter your details, and the printable will be sent straight to you.
Use markers to color the bee’s cheek, antennae, and stinger.

Step 5
Cut out the parts from the template and attach them to the bee’s face. Then stick on the eyes, cheek, and stinger, then draw a smile with a black marker.

Step 6
Now attach the two small circle shapes to the tops of the antennae, then stick both antennae onto the bee’s head.

Step 7
Let’s make the bee’s wings now. Take a cupcake liner and cut it in half. Set one half aside. Then cut the remaining half into two equal pieces.
Round off the top corners to give them a soft shape. These will be your bumble bee’s wings. You can hold the two pieces together while trimming so they match.
Kids can decorate the wings with markers if they like.

Step 8
Attach the wings to the top of the paper plate, and your easy paper plate bee craft is ready to play with!
Aren’t they so beautiful? You can decorate the classroom by displaying the bees, or turn them into fun puppets by attaching a popsicle stick to the back with clear tape.
