Steps to make a paper plate frog craft for kids
Let’s begin and create this adorable paper plate frog craft together. Follow the easy steps below to make your own green frog craft for spring fun.
Step 1
First, take one large paper plate and some green acrylic paint.

Step 2
Paint both the inside and outside of the plate green. Start with one side and let it dry completely. Then, turn it over and paint the other side. Finally, set it aside and allow it to dry fully.

Step 3
Download and print the frog template on white A4 cardstock. Enter your details in the form below to receive the printable.

Step 4
Next, cut out the template pieces. Trace them onto green cardstock and cut them out carefully.
Alternatively, you can paint the pieces green on white cardstock before cutting them out. If you choose to paint, be sure to paint both sides of each piece for a neat and finished look.

Step 5
Now fold the paper plate in half and press the crease firmly. This will be your frog’s body. Next, we will attach all the other pieces to it.

Step 6
While keeping the paper plate folded, carefully cut a small slit about 2 cm long in the center of the crease using scissors. This is where the paper strip will go to create the frog’s tongue.

Step 7
Hold the frog’s back legs together. Then, carefully make a small cut about 1 cm long on the side, just above the middle.

Step 8
Next, let’s attach the back legs to the paper plate body. Apply glue to the top folded edge on both the right and left sides, covering the outside and inside of the fold where the legs will go.

Step 9
Now, attach the back legs by sliding each leg’s slits onto the glued section of the paper plate and pressing it firmly into place. Wait for the glue to dry fully.

Step 10
Next, attach the front legs under the bottom folded edge of the paper plate and secure them with glue.

Step 11
Stick the eyes onto the rounded tops of the green shapes.

Step 12
Fold the rectangular ends of the green shapes backward, then glue them to the top of the paper plate body to attach the eyes.
Next, roll one end of the red cardstock paper strip around a thin pencil or paintbrush a few times, then gently slide it off. This will create the frog’s tongue. Now, insert the other end into the slit we made along the paper plate crease.

And now our fun, interactive paper plate frog craft is ready! Kids can enjoy moving the frog’s tongue in and out and have hours of playful fun.
