Steps to make a sunflower craft for kids
Step 1
Get two paper plates of the same size. Make several equally spaced cuts around their rims and have your kids draw petal shapes in the spaces using a pencil and cut them out. Older kids can challenge themselves by holding the plates together while drawing and cutting the petals.
Kids can now paint inside both of these paper plates. We used two coats of yellow acrylic paint. Wait for the paint to dry.

Step 2
When the paint dries, cut out one of the petals from both the paper plates. The cut should be such that it extends almost to the center of the paper plate and is in a V shape.
Hold the petal on the right side of the V shape and staple it over the top of the left petal. So the V shape is closed and you will get a 3d corn-like shape. Do it for both the paper plates.
Stick one paper plate flower inside the other using craft glue. Wait a while for the glue to dry.

Step 3
Let’s make the center part of our sunflower.
Get a yellow tissue paper, fold it a few times, and stick it in the center of the flower. Download our sunflower craft template and cut out the parts. Using the circle shape, cut out a circle from brown felt paper.
Stick this felt above the folded tissue paper such that the felt paper hides the tissue paper under it. We have used the folded tissue just to make the center circle stay in shape and to keep it elevated.

Step 4
Let’s make a stem now.
Get a green A4 construction paper and start rolling it from one corner to the other. You can use a paper straw to help you start with the rolling. Once you have got the required thickness for the stem, cut out the rest of the paper and secure the ends using glue.
Stick the stem behind the paper plate sunflower craft using hot glue. (To be done by grown-ups only).
Using the leaf template, cut out a leaf from green construction paper. Make a crease on the leaf by folding it in half and then unfolding it. Stick a small strip of green cardstock at the bottom of the leaf and glue the other end of the paper strip to the stem.
Wait for the glue to dry.
