How to Make a Pumpkin Emotions Craft
Making this emotions craft for kids is so much fun! Kids will enjoy talking about the different emotions and identifying how each one looks. They might even have fun copying some of the silly pumpkin faces! It’s a playful way to help kids understand and express their feelings.
Step 1
Download the Pumpkin Emotions printable template. Print four copies of Page 1 on orange construction paper. Then print one copy of Page 2 on white construction paper.

Step 2
Now it’s time to color all the pumpkin pieces. Color everything except the eyes and stem. For the surprised and scared pumpkins, color the mouths black. For the silly and excited pumpkins, color the mouths black and the tongues red. Color the teardrop blue.
Once everything is colored, carefully cut out all the pieces. This includes the 8 pumpkin shapes, eyes, mouth pieces, and stem. Keep the two different types of eyes separate so you can easily tell which eyes go with each pumpkin.
For the stem, place the template over a piece of thin cardstock and trace around it. Cut out the stem from the cardstock.

Step 3
Let’s start with the surprised pumpkin! Take a pair of eyes from the first group on the template, the ones with more white space around the colored part of the eye. Glue them onto the pumpkin.
Next, glue the surprised mouth, which is the oval-shaped mouth. Finally, draw the eyebrows slightly higher above the eyes to give your pumpkin a surprised expression.

Step 4
Now let’s create the excited pumpkin! Take another pair of eyes from the first group and glue them onto the pumpkin. Add the black and red mouth, then draw the eyebrows slightly higher above the eyes to give your pumpkin an excited expression.

Step 5
Now let’s create the scared pumpkin! Take a pair of eyes from the first group and glue them onto the pumpkin. Add the scared mouth, then draw the eyebrows curved downward to give your pumpkin a worried, frightened expression.

Step 6
For all the remaining faces, we’ll use the eyes from the second group, the ones with less white space around the black circle.
Let’s make the happy pumpkin! Start by gluing the happy mouth onto the pumpkin. Then, stick on a pair of eyes from the second group and draw the eyebrows above the eyes to complete the happy expression.

Step 7
Now let’s make the sad pumpkin! Glue on a pair of eyes from the second group, then draw the sad mouth and add the blue teardrop. Finally, draw the eyebrows slightly curved downward to give your pumpkin a sad expression.

Step 8
Now let’s make the angry pumpkin! Glue on a pair of eyes. Draw a short line above each eye, very close to it, and angle the lines toward the center to create the angry eyebrows.
Finally, draw a slightly downward-curved line for the mouth to complete the angry expression.

Step 9
Now let’s make the silly pumpkin! Glue one eye onto the pumpkin, then draw a winking eye next to it. Add the tongue to the mouth and glue the mouth onto the pumpkin.
Finally, draw the eyebrows above the eyes to complete the silly expression.

Step 10
Now let’s make the confused pumpkin! Glue on the eyes, placing one slightly lower than the other. Draw the eyebrows with one curved upward and the other curved downward.
Add a question mark next to the downward eyebrow to emphasize the confused expression. Finally, draw a slightly curved mouth at an angle to complete the look.

Step 11
We’ve made all the pumpkin faces, and now it’s time to turn them into a fun flipbook!
Take one pumpkin face and fold it in half with the face on the inside. Make a neat crease along the fold.

Step 12
Apply glue to the outside of the folded pumpkin on the side where the eyes are. Spread the glue evenly over the folded surface. This is where the next pumpkin face will be attached.

Step 13
Take the next pumpkin face and fold it in half with the face on the inside.
Stick the second folded pumpkin onto the first pumpkin. Make sure the side with the eyes is on top when you stick it, and line up the folded edges neatly.
Press the two folded sides together firmly so they stick securely.

Step 14
Next, apply glue to the top folded side of the second pumpkin. Then, fold the third pumpkin face in half with the face on the inside.
Carefully stick the third pumpkin onto the glued area, making sure the folded side with the eyes is on top. Line up the folded edges neatly and press them together firmly.
Continue the same steps with the remaining pumpkin faces until all 8 pumpkins are attached.

Step 15
All 8 pumpkin faces are attached now! Just one last step remains to complete your Pumpkin Emotions Flipbook Craft.

Step 16
Finally, glue the stem to the back of the topmost folded pumpkin face.

And there you have it! Your Pumpkin Emotions Flipbook Craft is ready. Flip through the pages and have fun exploring all 8 different emotions!
