Steps to make a rocking paper plate witchcraft
Step 1
To start, you can download and print the paper plate witch template on two white A4 construction papers.

Step 2
First, carefully cut out the sections of the template.
Next, trace the hat parts onto colorful construction paper and then carefully cut them out. In our example, we used purple, yellow, and pink paper for the hat. Now, for the witch’s face, trace the circle shape onto a cardstock and cut it out. We chose yellow paper for the face.

Step 3
Once you have all the pieces ready, it’s time to assemble the witch’s hat. Begin by attaching the top part of the hat to the bottom part. Then, attach the long pink strip where these two parts meet. If the pink strip sticks out of the hat, trim the excess with scissors to make it neat and tidy.
Stick the yellow square at the center of the pink strip. After that, add the smaller pink square on top of the yellow one.

Step 4
Let’s make the witch’s hair. To make the front hair, carefully cut out a small wavy shape from colorful construction paper. This wavy shape will become the witch’s front hair. Attach it to the bottom part of the witch’s hat, positioning it behind the hat.
Make sure you position it in a way that allows the front hair to peek out, adding a touch of charm to the witch’s appearance.
Next, stick the hat at the very top of the witch’s face.
To complete the hairstyle, let’s add some side hairs.
Cut out two larger wavy shapes from construction paper. These will be the witch’s side hairs. Attach them on either side of the witch’s hat, tucking them neatly behind the hat. This will give your paper plate witch a full and fabulous head of hair, making her look even more enchanting!

Step 5
Now, let’s bring our witch’s face to life! Begin by adding two eyes to your witch’s face. Don’t forget to add some eyelashes above the eyes.
Next, draw a long nose and a friendly mouth on your witch’s face. If you prefer, you can use the mouth shape from the template, color it in, and then stick it in place.
Our witch’s face is ready!

Step 6
Now, let’s make our witch rock in style!
To begin, you’ll need a large paper plate. Carefully fold it in half. Once you’ve done that, grab a glue stick and apply glue generously all over one side of the folded paper plate.
Now, take a sheet of purple construction paper and place it over the glued side of the paper plate. Make sure to stick it down firmly so that it covers the entire glued area. This purple construction paper will transform into the witch’s elegant dress.
Use scissors to trim off any excess paper that sticks out from the edges of the paper plate.
Stick the witch’s face onto the purple-colored side of the paper plate. Position it slightly below the folded edge, right in the middle.

Step 7
Cut out the sides of the paper plate, one from each side of the witch’s face. Try your best to make these cuts approximately the same size and shape to ensure a symmetrical look for our craft.
Next, it’s time to create a broom for our enchanting friend.
Cut out a long strip and a rectangle shape from pink construction paper. To give the broom a more realistic appearance, trim the edges of the rectangle shape to make it curvy. Then, make small cuts on one side of the rectangle to create the broom’s brush. Gently crinkle the cut edges to add texture and make it look like a real broom.
To complete our witch’s look, cut out a small oval shape from yellow cardstock. Make one side of the oval shape straight by cutting it off. This will become the witch’s hand.
Now, let’s put everything together.
Stick the straight edge of the witch’s hand onto her dress. Then, attach the pink paper strip just below her hand, followed by sticking the brush at the tip of the paper strip. This charming broom and hand detail will make our rocking paper plate witch even more delightful and ready for Halloween adventures!

Now, it’s time to see your witch craft in action! Place your witch craft on a flat surface and give its sides a gentle tap. As you do this, you’ll witness the magic happening – our paper plate witch will start to rock back and forth! It’s a delightful sight that kids of all ages will enjoy.
