How to make a haunted house out of popsicle sticks
Step 1
First, we need to get ten popsicle sticks to make this haunted house. We used jumbo-sized popsicle sticks to make our house.
Now, we need to paint the popsicle sticks. We painted eight popsicle sticks blue and two brown. The blue sticks will make the wall and the brown sticks will make the roof of our haunted house.

Step 2
Lay three popsicle sticks horizontally as shown in the picture. Line two of them beside each other and the third one a bit down.
Stick a popsicle stick at a slanted position on each side of these horizontal sticks making a closed shape. We used PVA glue for this. If you are using PVA glue, you may have to wait a while for the glue to dry. You can also use hot glue to make it faster. Please note, adults should do the hot gluing.
Now, stick three more popsicle sticks in a slanted way on the right side parallel to each other.

Step 3
Let’s make the roof now.
Stick the two brown popsicle sticks in an inverted V shape on the top of the wall.

Step 4
Once the popsicle sticks are glued in place, let’s make a door. Cut a small rectangle-shaped felt of the same height as the doorway.
Turn the house to the other side. Apply glue on the left side of the doorway and stick the felt on it. While sticking, place the felt slightly slanted to form the same shape as the doorway.
Once the glue dries, turn the house over again and you will see the felt door which you will be able to open and close.
If you think the door is a bit bigger and you can’t open it easily, you may want to slightly trim the sides of it.

Step 4

Step 5
Cut the square shape out of page 2 of the printable and use it as a template to cut a square shape out of yellow felt. Let’s make a window with the felt.
Draw two black lines, one horizontally and one vertically on the square felt, and stick it on the popsicle haunted house.

Step 6
Time to decorate the house.
Cut strips of felt paper and stick them around the sides of the door and window.
Color, cut out and stick the chimney on the house. Color all the other characters as you wish, cut them out, and stick them on the popsicle house.
Don’t forget to stick some characters behind the door. We glued a ghost and the ‘BOO’ stickers!
We also glued a spider on the roof, pumpkin, ghosts, and witch hat on the wall. Be as creative as you want with this part. We are sure kids will enjoy this part of decorating their Halloween house a lot!

Our easy spooky popsicle stick hut is ready! Kids will have so much fun playing with this interactive house by opening and closing the door, and peeking inside!
