Steps to make this paper butterfly craft
Follow the step by step instructions below to learn how to make this cute 3d butterfly. This is a great art activity for preschoolers, kindergarteners and elementary school kids.
Step 1
First, we need some construction papers. We chose three A4 papers of yellow, pink, and blue colors. If you need only two colors for your butterfly, you will need only two pieces of paper. Now, cut several paper strips out of them as shown below.
Here are the measurements we used. The longer yellow strips are 21 x 1.5 cm and the shorter yellow strips are 19 x 1.5 cm. These paper strips will make the wings of the butterfly. The smaller pink and blue paper strips are 10 x 1.5 cms. We will roll them to decorate the wings in later steps.

Step 2
Make wings for the butterfly by sticking the ends of the yellow strips together using PVA glue.

Step 3
Now make several paper rolls using the smaller paper strips. Let’s use a cardstock paper to stick them all together.

Step 4
Apply glue on the edges of the paper strips and stick them on the cardtstock one by one as shown below. Start with the bigger paper strips to make the butterfly’s wings. We used a paintbrush to apply the glue which made it easier.

Step 5
Time to decorate the wings. Stick the small paper rolls inside the wings.

Step 6
Get a small piece of construction paper or cardstock and stick small round pieces of paper on it. Now, draw a face for the butterfly. Stick this at the center of the wings.

Step 7
Now, stick two paper antennae behind the head and our beautiful paper butterfly craft is ready.
